Story so far
Construction on the circa £11 million Firepool Centre for Digital Innovation began in November 2021. The Centre is opening to tenants in May 2024.
External funding for the Centre was secured by Somerset County Council, including almost £1.7 million from the European Union Regional Development Fund, and almost £5.5 million of HM Government’s Getting Building Funding from the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership.
Opening in May 2024
The Centre is due to open in May 2024, following an extensive fit-out and mobilisation programme.
The Centre sits on the Firepool regeneration site. The Firepool masterplan is for an ambitious mixed-use scheme, comprising new homes and a leisure quarter, organised around a high quality public realm.

The Centre is easily accessible by train, bus and bike. There is a limited amount of on-site parking, however the Centre is adjacent to Taunton railway station which has a large multi-story car park.
The Centre is a short walk from Taunton’s independent quarter with a variety of independent shops, cafés and restaurants.
