Our vision
The Firepool Centre for Digital Innovation provides a focal point for the growth and evolution of the digital sector in Somerset. Somerset already employs more than 9,000 people in the digital sector across more than 2,500 businesses, and these figures are set to grow.
As well as providing dedicated space for digital sector businesses, the Centre seeks to create an innovation ecosystem and will deliver specialist support services for users, tenants and the wider digital business base.
The Centre aims to support:
- new innovation focussed projects and collaborations
- an increase in knowledge intensive activities
- the identification of new markets, products and services
- greater knowledge transfer
- the development of a skilled digital workforce
The Centre's objectives
The centre will act as a hub where innovative digital SME's can collaborate, innovate, and thrive.
We will offer tailored support to help digital businesses take advantage of new opportunities and overcome barriers to innovation-led growth.
The Centre will be at the heart of an innovation ecosystem comprised of businesses, academic partners, skills providers, the catapult network, and research institutions.
We will encourage digital businesses to locate in, or expand into, Somerset.
We will help businesses respond to emerging challenges and opportunities in a fast-moving sector.
We will support the development of a skilled digital workforce to meet the needs of growing businesses.

The Centre is easily accessible by train, bus and bike. There is a limited amount of on-site parking, however the Centre is adjacent to Taunton railway station which has a large multi-story car park.
The Centre is a short walk from Taunton’s independent quarter with a variety of independent shops, cafés and restaurants.
